A main focus of Partitura Verlag is viola repertoire; its catalogue includes both original works and arrangements (with the latter including song transcriptions and tangos). Our arrangers are renowned viola soloists, professors and composers from diverse backgrounds. Partitura editions are offered always as playing scores: each player's individual line is highlighted in large bold print, with the other players’ parts added in small print, so all performers have an equal overview of the whole score and can follow the music both vertically and horizontally.

Violist Stephanie Gurtner founded Partitura Verlag AG in 2007, prompted by the desire to offer musicians in duos and chamber ensembles a more complete picture of the score while playing. Before founding Partitura Verlag, she played in several European orchestras and chamber music ensembles, including eighteen years as associate principal viola of the State Orchestra of Saarbrücken, Germany from 1989–2006. 

Markus Neuenschwander draws on his extensive experience in educational publishing to support the endeavour.
